James S. Dunlap Jr. passed on July 12th. 2025 at the age of 89.
He was a member of the Lyndon Fire Department 1959-1970, a Jefferson County Police officer from 1965-1988, and a Northfield Community Police officer from 1990-2010. He was a member of The Moose (FL), Elks, and American Legion Sons of the Legion, and Guard Guys Car Club. He enjoyed working on cars, especially his 1929 Model A and anyone else that he could help. He enjoyed showing his Model A and sharing the story about its history. When he wintered in Ft. Myers, FL at Orange Harbor Park, he was known as the park handyman. He was a good father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather helping when needed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, wife Betty Dunlap; parents, James S. and Mary Dunlap; sisters, Phyllis A. Dunlap and Mary L. Higginbotham.
He is survived by sons, Steve (Jill) Dunlap and Gary (Lisa) Dunlap; daughter Lynn (Jim)Hickerson; partner, Glenda Pollard and her daughters Debbie (Nick)Ambrose and Kim Fields; grandchildren, Gary, Jason, Kelly, Russ, Ryan, Darren, Penny, Alex; great grandchildren, Dystanie, Jeffrey, Conner, Riley, Lily, Elizabeth, Wyatt, Peyton, Katherine, Molly, Knox, Patrick, and Ella Claire.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Newcomer, East Louisville Chapel (235 Juneau Drive). His funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm at the funeral home with burial at Louisville Memorial Garden East.
