James Edward Drexler, 93, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026.
James was born March 31, 1933. He was centered in the heart of Germantown Louisville. His mother Mary Magdalene "Maime" Koebel Drexler worked at the cotton mill, much like many people from the neighborhood. In his childhood, Jim enjoyed a constant presence of extended family, all in Germantown. Jim finished parochial school at St. Vincent DePaul. Jim joined the Army between WWII and Korea. He was proud of his service, he was a valued member of the training team at Fort Knox. He went on to work tirelessly at American Tobacco company then GE Appliance Park. Married to Dorothy Irene (Laing) in 1955, Jim supported his family of four. Later, Jim and Dot enjoyed a plot of land in Oldham County, farmed and raised animals. Jim was always competitive and loved a good round of golf.
Jim is survived by wife of 71 years Dorothy, daughter Joyce Drexler Borders (Tom), son Stephan Drexler, and granddaughter Alex Irene Borders.
Mother Mary Magdalen “Maimie’ Koebel Drexler 1902-1974, father Simon Martin Drexler 1902-1951, Preceeded in death by Doris Rose Drexler Crawford, And Robert Martin Drexler.
The family will have a memorial service at a later date.
