James I. Devine, 70, of Pekin, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at his home surrounded by family. He retired from Summit Trucking. James was a family man and always enjoyed spending time with those he loved.
He was born on September 27, 1949, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Samuel and Irene (Johnson) Devine. James was also preceded in death by his son, Samuel A. Devine; sister, Linda Gamble; and brother, Samuel Devine.
James is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dolores (Simon) Devine; sons, James L. Devine (Randa), Robert Devine, and Thomas Devine (Danyelle); siblings, Susan Davis (Perry), Sherry Gardner (Dale), and Joey Grizzell (Sherrie); seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Cremation was chosen following James' wishes and Newcomer Funerals, Cremations & Receptions was entrusted with his care. Contributions in his memory may be made to his family in care of the funeral home.
