James Coady Custer

James Coady Custer, 76, of Henryville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022. Jim was an Electrician who worked 39 years for the L&N Railroad in Louisville, Kentucky, and CSX Railroad in Huntington, West Virginia. Jim was a devoted Christian and an active member of Memphis Christian Church.

Jim was born on April 29, 1945, in Wilmington, Delaware, to the late Richard and Ruth (Warren) Custer. He joined the Army in 1965, where he met his wife, Cam, in Louisville, Kentucky. After retiring in West Virginia, he returned to Indiana in 2005.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Camellia Custer; son, Robert (Teresa) Custer; son, Bruce Custer; brother, John (Marlene) Custer; and grandchildren, Dr. Chasity Custer (Eric Snover), Jessica Custer, Karlee (Ben) Waid, and Jonathan Custer. He will be remembered for being a kind and lighthearted husband, father, grandfather, and friend with a witty sense of humor, who would do anything for his friends.

Please come celebrate the life of Jim with his friends and family as they will meet for Visitation from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow according to Jim's wishes.
