James Powell "Jimmy" Crawford, age 77 of Simpsonville, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.
Jimmy was born in Bagdad, KY in 1944 and Bagdad is a place he always carried close to his heart. The youngest of four children, he always stood out. Jimmy always had a mischievous prankster side in him that always kept others guessing and laughing. He was a true hard worker from a young age and he reminisced frequently on his ideal life on the farm he grew up on in his youth. Those who knew Jimmy are probably smiling right now remembering a funny story he told, a prank he played on them or witnessed, or just remembering his contagious smile and laughter. Jimmy's gift of story telling and bringing about laughter may be what he is best known for, but he was also known for his great cooking, caring for those he loved, and screaming "go cats" louder than most.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Joyce Crawford, his three daughters Vickie Moore, Patty Wentworth and her spouse David Wentworth, Samantha Crawford and her spouse Hector Garcia, and his five grandchildren, Brandon Wentworth, Lexi Wentworth Beckley and her spouse Hunter Beckley, Tobias Garcia, Damian Garcia and Liliana Garcia, who all were his pride and joy.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 pm on Monday, January 24, 2022 and from 11am until 1pm on Tuesday, January 25th at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A celebration of Jim's life will be at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1pm. Burial will follow at the Simpsonville Masonic Cemetery.
