James "Jim" C. Truitt, 64, died peacefully at Floyd Memorial Hospital, New Albany, Indiana, on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 due to complications from pneumonia. He worked at the Kentucky Association of Electric Cooperatives, Inc. and part-time at Korrect Optical.
Jim is survived by his wife of 33 years, Carolyn (Weaver) Truitt; daughter, Andrea (Matthew Drabek); sisters, Margaret Truitt Wright and Alice Truitt; brother, Michael; niece, Julianna Dooley Hasche (Kirk). He is also survived by his stepdaughters Karen Gray (Steven) and Kelly Ralphs (Kevin) and their children, Jeremy Gray, Brandy Weaver, and Heather Gray; and Bryan Fruechtenicht and Kaylin Fitz, respectively. He is also survived by his cousin, Rosemary Davis Alvey.
He was born on July 26, 1950 in Louisville to the late Clifford and Mary (Beswick) Truitt. He was also preceded in death by his son, Michael Joseph "Mikey Joe" and brother, Thomas Edward "Tommy."
Visitation will be from 11 AM to 8 PM on Monday, May 18, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Tuesday after 11 AM. His Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday in the chapel at the funeral home with cremation to follow according to Jim's wishes.
The family wishes to express gratitude to the nurses and staff at Floyd Memorial Hospital ICU for the care they gave to Jim. Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church (415 E. Eighth Street, New Albany, IN 47150).
