James Ronald Carter

January 10, 1938 — September 21, 2021

James Ronald "JR Pa" Carter, 83, of Louisville, KY, passed away on September 21, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was a National Guard, field artillery. JR retired from LG&E after 28 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, camping and collecting knives. JR could always make you laugh with his jokes and pranks. His family meant the world to him and he loved spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Carter; parents, James and Ruby Carter and sisters, Sheila, Barb (Don) and Diane (Donnie).

JR leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 62 years, Edith Carter, daughter, Theresa (Michael) Schoenbachler; son, Danny (Rachel) Carter; grandchildren, Jerry, Brandy (Billy), Kasey (Sean), Shane (Kasey), Keanon and Sicily; great-grandchildren, Breanna, Paige, Shane, Ezra, Aubrey, Joey and Sarah; sister, Pat (Charlie) Murphy; brother, Richard (Sandra) Carter and daughter-in-law, Shannon Carter.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY, from 10am to 12pm with a celebration of JR's life beginning at 12pm and visitation continuing from 12:30pm-2pm.

A graveside service will be at Calvary Cemetery, 1600 Newburg Road, Louisville, KY, Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 11am.
