James William "Jim" Burnett, 73, went home on January 29, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was a Sergeant in the US Army who was a Vietnam War Veteran and a Kentucky Colonel. Jim was an avid sports fan and a huge UK fanatic; BBN for life. He enjoyed playing the lottery, going to the boat and little horses. Jim always had a sparkle in his blue eyes, a contagious laugh, especially when you were telling him a joke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Massey and Mary Elizabeth Burnett; brothers, Charles Burnett and John Burnett; sisters, Rose Bowles and Mary Louise McKinney.
Jim leaves to cherish his memories, his daughters, Angela (Garry) Cummins, Emma Cummins and Cynthia Burnett; grandchildren, Sierra Hyde and Steven (Courtney) Burnett; great-granddaughter, Lettie Burnett and sister, Helen Burnett
Visitation will be Monday, February 7, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, K, from 3pm-8pm. A celebration of Jim's life will be Tuesday, February 8, 2022, beginning at 11am at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central, 2501 N. Dixie Highway, Radcliff, KY, beginning at 11am.
