James Meredith Brown

May 12, 1958 — July 13, 2021

James Meredith Brown, 63, of Elizabeth, Indiana, passed away at his home following a battle with glioblastoma on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. Jim attended St. Joseph Elementary School and graduated from South Central High School in 1977 where he played baseball and basketball and was a member of the National Honor Society. Jim enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, and collecting baseball cards. He was always eager to help anyone, no matter when, where, or what their need. Jim was employed in the past by a trucking firm and traveled 48 of 50 states, 5M River Transportation, 24 Hour Food Stores, Armour Stockyards, and, currently, New Albany Auto Parts.

Jim was born on May 12, 1958, in Corydon, Indiana, to John and Rose (Bierly) Brown. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Paul C. and Helen (McRae) Brown; maternal grandparents, Meredith "Buck" and Elizabeth (Evans) Bierly; and nephew, Brian Keith Brown.

Jim is survived by his parents, John William "Bill" and Rose Ann (Bierly) Brown; brothers, William "Keith" (Dianne) Brown, Dr. Richard D. (Rebecca) Brown, M.D., and sister Mary Beth Brown; nieces, Lindsey Brown and Lauren Brown; nephews, Robert Brown, Paul Brown, Kyle Brown, and David Brown; great-nieces and -nephews; and his beloved dog, Girl.

Jim chose cremation through Newcomer Funeral Home, and the family is planning a private memorial service.
