James Albert Boutaugh, IV, age 51, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend whose presence touched the lives of many. James had a deep passion for fishing and cherished the time spent with his family on the water. His strength and resilience were truly remarkable, as he fought valiantly for over eight months through health challenges. Known for his unique sense of humor, James had a gift for bringing joy and laughter to those around him, and he will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
Born on March 8, 1974, in Louisville, Kentucky, James was the son of James and Wanda (Martin) Boutaugh. He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Wanda Boutaugh, and his grandmother, Rachel Martin.
James is survived by his devoted wife, Amber Boutaugh; his father, James Albert Boutaugh, III; his daughter, Sabrina (Jalen) Morrison; his sons, James Albert Boutaugh, V, and Hayden Andrew Boutaugh; and his cherished grandchildren, Noah, Rylee, and Averi Morrison. He also leaves behind his sister, Jennifer Lanham, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever hold his memory dear.
Visitation to honor James's life will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, located at 10304 Dixie Highway. A Celebration of Life service will take place at 6:00 p.m. that same day at the funeral home.
