James Patrick "Pat" Blandford, 69, of Borden, Indiana, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019. He graduated from Flaget High School in Louisville in 1968 and went on to attend Bellarmaine University where he played basketball. Pat served in the United States Air Force from 1970 to 1974 where he was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War.
He was dedicated to his family and career. Pat retired from Brown Forman after 38 years of service as a distillery operator. He enjoyed watching his son, Jeremy, play baseball, as well as his daughters, Amber and Whitney, play volleyball. He spent time following his favorite sports teams, the Kentucky Wildcats, Boston Celtics, and New York Yankees.
Pat had a love for country music, especially Alan Jackson, and enjoyed remodeling houses, seeing the transformation of what he created. He would recruit friends and family to help him do electric, plumbing, and also carpeting.
He was born on January 16, 1950, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late James and Ernestine (Yarbrough) Blandford. Pat was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda (Barnes) Blandford; son, Jeremy Blandford; and sisters, Shirley Long and Mary Humphrey. Pat is survived by his children, Mike Blandford (Sharon), Amber Blandford (Johannes Kleiner), and Whitney Blandford (Roger Groenstad); grandchildren, Madison, Michael, and Maxwell Blandford; and brothers-in-law, Gene Long and Eddie Humphrey.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday in the chapel at the funeral home with cremation to follow according to Pat's wishes.
The family wishes to thank Donna Weston who cared for Pat during the last 10 months of his life. Pat often spoke about the quality care Donna provided to him and wanted to make sure that everyone knew it.
