James Benedict "Sam" Fenwick, 72, passed away on July 6, 2016, in Louisville, Kentucky. Sam was born in Springfield, Kentucky, on August 12, 1943, to Joseph and Nancy (Wright) Fenwick. Sam worked in the construction business for many years and attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in his earlier years. He was a United States Air Force veteran and enjoyed horse racing and going fishing.
Along with his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his son, Jason Fenwick; and sisters, Brenda Slaughter, and Nancy Young. He is survived by his loving children, Lesha Sutton-Howard (Irvin), Shontee' Smith (Walter, Jr.), and James "Brent" Hipsher (Desiree); siblings, Charles Fenwick, Margaret Smith, Florence Smith, and Rita Fenwick; 11 grandchildren, Diondra, Anndreana, Journey, Kiara, Amaya, Tre, JaBria, James, Jr., Demarcus, Skylar, and Jericho; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with service to follow at 2:00 p.m.
