James A. Waddell

August 31, 1947 — March 12, 2016

James A. "Rusty" Waddell, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away on March 12th, 2016 after losing his 8 year battle with cancer. He was born August 31st, 1947 to James A. Waddell Sr. and Mary Jane Gilmore Waddell, both of whom preceded him in death. Rusty was a graduate of Seneca High School where he lettered in baseball, football, and basketball. He graduated from the University of Kentucky where he received his business and finance degree. He remained an avid fan of the UK Wildcats. He was a longtime employee of the Farm Credit Bank of Louisville and later a Vice President of Farm Credit Services. More recently, he was with the CPA firm of Compton Kottke & Associates, from which he retired in 2012.

Rusty is survived by his loving wife of nearly 40 years, Linda Pierce Waddell; daughter, Kelley (Chris) Ledford; son, James Blair (Erin) Waddell; grandchildren, Lucie Ledford, Lilly Ledford, James Knox Waddell, and Layla Waddell; and brothers, Wayne (Marguerite) Waddell and Daniel (Rodman) Waddell. Also surviving are his nephew, James Alan (Sara) Waddell; great-niece, Elizabeth Baird Waddell, and nieces, Bronwen and Kinsey Waddell. Rusty leaves behind a myriad of friends and family he amassed throughout his lifetime.

The family wishes to express special thanks to the Rev. Dr. Doug Meister of Jeffersontown Christian Church and Father B.J. Breen of St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church for their comforting presence, support, and prayers. A special thank you to Dr. Anderson of Palliative Care at Baptist Health for his compassion.

A Memorial Service will be held at Jeffersontown Christian Church (10631 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, KY) on March 22nd, 2016 at 11:00 am. The family will receive visitors immediately after the service in the Fellowship Hall where a luncheon will be served.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Rusty's name to Jeffersontown Christian Church, St. Frances of Rome, or Masonic Homes of Louisville.
