Ivan Chandler

December 14, 1932 — December 31, 2015

Ivan Chandler, 83, of Louisville, passed away on December 31, 2015. Ivan was born in Paintsville, KY on December 14, 1932, to the late Connie Chandler and Helen Chandler (Grim) Evans. He was a proud veteran and Army retiree. He served in both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam, where he earned a Purple Heart. After retiring from the Army, Ivan was an owner-operator truck driver for many years. He enjoyed tending to his garden and being outdoors in his spare time.

In addition to his parents, Ivan was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Nelson Chandler; daughter, Shirley Chandler Meeks; and brother, Joy Chandler. Survivors include his daughter, Rita Pence (Donnie); grandchildren, Miranda Holston (Donnie), and Kile Beavin; great-grandchildren, Waylon Hopkins and Christian Joseph Holston; half-brothers, Henry Evans (Joyce) and James Thomas (Judy); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Funeral service will be held at 12:30pm Friday, January 8, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home - Southwest Chapel (10304 Dixie Hwy) with visitation from 10:00am until time of service. Burial with military honors will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery - Central in Radcliff, KY.
