Irene Rita "Rene" (Murphy) Quakenbush, 101, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at Lincoln Hills Nursing Home. She retired as a seamstress from M. Fine & Sons after over 40 years of employment.

She was born on September 3, 1919, in New Albany, Indiana, to Thomas and Jenny (Brinkley) Murphy. In addition to her parents, Rene was preceded in death by her husband, John Quakenbush.

Rene is survived by her son, Ronald Quakenbush (Shirley); grandchildren, Tim Quakenbush and Ronelle Duff (Taylor); great-grandchildren, Courtney Wooley (Chase), Casey Quakenbush (fiancé, Patrick Sheehan), Bailey Duff, and Peyton Duff; great-great-grandchildren, Ava, Canon, and Ella Wooley.

Services will be held privately at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany), and Rene will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in New Albany.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
