Ilene Damron

Ilene H. Damron, age 99 years and two weeks, departed this world on September 6, 2025, to join her Lord and Savior with a host of family awaiting her which included her twin. Ilene and her late husband Milton Damron were a part of the “Greatest Generation” and had witnessed numerous historical events in their lifetime.

As a young couple attending the University of Kentucky in the 1950’s, they professed their faith in Jesus Christ at the Porter Memorial Baptist Church, where they were baptized together. Their mission of spreading the gospel and serving their Lord began as they taught Sunday School together and served in any position that reflected their faith. They brought many to know their Lord.

Through their work they lived in places such as Key West where they could watch the incredible sunsets together, then to Montana to live under the Big Sky country and finally dwelling on the shores of the Carolinas. They participated in square dancing and performed in many cities. They had a Christ centered marriage, loving, and close relationship for 63 years.

Ilene was a natural beauty inside and out. She loved to go on shopping trips with her daughter Rheba and granddaughter Melita. They had many hours of fun, laughter and created many precious memories. She had an insatiable appetite for knowledge, especially pertaining to exercise and was a health enthusiast. If you had any time around her, you were going to leave with a tidbit to enhance your health.

Ilene is survived by her daughter, Rheba Roten; granddaughter, Melita Murray (Lee) and great-granddaughter, Taylor Leigh Murray; and a host of relatives and friends.  Ilene was their mentor, best friend, and confidant who will forever remain in their hearts.

Ilene’s service will be private, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
