Howard Eugene Simpson, Sr.

Howard E. Simpson, Sr., age 74 passed away Monday, March 7, 2022 at St. Matthews Care Center. He was born September 5, 1947 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Frankie Simpson, Sr. and Helen Simpson. He lived in Louisville with his loving wife Sandra Goff Simpson who were married December 20, 1966. Howard was a supply sargeant in the U.S. Army and fought in the Vietnam War. After returning from the war, he began a career in the wholesale florist industry, starting as a delivery driver and working his way to manager and then becoming an owner of his own wholesale florist. He loved fishing and camping and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Howard is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Randall Goff; brothers, Bill Simpson and William Abbott; and sister-in-law, Margie Brady.

Howard is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; his children, Lisa Logsdon (Paul), Howard Simpson, Jr. (Mindy) and Karen Gwinn (Todd); grandchildren, Katie Cunningham (Darrell), Tyler Logsdon (Paige), Renee Vidt, Andrew Logsdon (Kelly), Hannah Simpson, Jessica Simpson and Aaron Gwinn; twelve great-grandchildren with another one due in June; mother-in law, Virginia Goff; brother, Frankie Simpson Jr.; and sisters, Carol Shannon and Patricia Morris; and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8pm on Monday, March 14, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A celebration of Howard's life will be on Tuesday, March 15th at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens East, 11600 Ballardsville Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40241.
