Hope Riser Jones

Hope Riser Jones, a beloved mother, sister and devoted EMT, passed away on September 21, 2024 in Louisville, Kentucky, at the age of 63. Born on March 22, 1961, in Greenville, South Carolina, she lived a life characterized by compassion, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to serving others.

Hope was a proud graduate of Westport High School and furthered her education by attending Eastern Kentucky University. Her career as an Emergency Medical Technician with Bullitt County EMS furthered her deep-seated desire to help those in need. Throughout her career, she demonstrated extraordinary dedication and a genuine sense of pride in her noble profession, being a source of comfort and support to countless individuals during their most vulnerable moments.

In addition to her professional achievements, Hope had a penchant for music and was an active member of various choirs, including the EKU Singers, All State Choir, and Madrigal Singers. Her passion for music intertwined with her love for her family and friends, as she cherished spending time with them. Hope also enjoyed fishing and caring for animals, activities that brought her great joy and fulfillment.

Her military service aspirations were briefly realized when she enlisted in the United States Coast Guard but were cut short due to an injury. Although she could not continue her service, her pride in being a part of the armed forces remained steadfast.

Hope is survived by her daughter, Heather Jones Carpenter, and son-in-law, Zachary Thomas Carpenter. She also leaves behind her brother, Zachary Riser (Paula), sister, Faith Riser (Stuart), sister-in-law Pam, and her brother-in-law, Robert Jones (Linda). Additionally she is survived by many nieces and nephews

Hope is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Wayne Jones; her father, Jimmy Riser; her mother, Ethel Riser; and her brother-in-law, Michael Jones (Pam).

A visitation honoring Hope’s life will be held on September 26, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 6:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243.

In her passing, Hope Riser Jones leaves behind a legacy marked by her compassion, loyalty, and dedication to service, forever etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Humane Society in honor of Hope.
