Homer Frederick McKinley, 88, of Georgetown, Indiana passed away peacefully on Monday, January 30, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the former owner of Homer McKinley & Sons Masonry Contractors for 24 years and a former instructor at Prosser School of Technology in New Albany for 18 years. Fred coached 7/8th grade basketball at Our Lady for 15 years and was also a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Bradford, Indiana.
He was born on January 11, 1929 to the late Homer and Mary (Ems) McKinley. Fred was also preceded in death by his brother, George McKinley.
Fred is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Norma (Kessinger) McKinley; sons, Rev. Stephen McKinley O.F.M. Conv., Dan McKinley, David McKinley (Khris), Pat McKinley (Lisa), Doug McKinley (Brenda); brother, Thomas McKinley (JoAnn); sister-in-law, Jeanie McKinley; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 3 PM to 8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany) with burial to follow at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Bradford, Indiana.
