Holt Lafayette Hutchins III

Holt Lafayette Hutchins III, 65, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024. Born on October 22, 1958, to Holt, Jr. and Irene (Caudill) Hutchins, Holt lived a life rich in craftsmanship and passion. He was a skilled craftsman and welder, renowned for his ability to build anything with precision and care.

Holt had an adventurous spirit and was a dedicated firearm enthusiast. In his younger years, he enjoyed embracing the great outdoors, partaking in hunting and fishing—activities that brought him a connection with nature. He was particularly fond of his dogs, Pearl and Winchester, who provided him companionship and affection.

Holt was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie. He is survived by his sons, Holt Hutchins IV (Lisa) and Eddie Hutchins, along with his grandchildren: Emily Butler, Holt W. Hutchins (fiancé, Mikaela Glass), Isaac Hutchins, Dawson Ward, and Jayden Butler. Holt also leaves behind his siblings, David Hutchins (Martha), Judy Wheeler, Jeff Hutchins (Kathy), and Mitchell Hutchins, as well as his lifelong best friend, Rick Palmer (Brenda). He is remembered fondly by several generations of nieces and nephews.

In honoring Holt's wishes, he was cremated, with Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) being entrusted with his care. Contributions in his memory may be made to We Care (22 E. McClain Avenue, Scottsburg, IN  47170).
