Herman Alexander Sommerville II, 49, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017. He was a graduate of New Albany High School and Indiana University Southeast. Herman had many hobbies, which included photography and cooking. He also was a master gardener and long-time member of the Kentuckiana Herb Society.
He was born on April 6, 1967, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Herman and Cheryl (Allen) Sommerville. Along with his parents, Herman is survived by his siblings, David Sommerville (Lori) and Carrie Sommerville; nephew, Devin Sommerville; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Cremation was chosen following Herman's wishes. A reception of family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with a Memorial Service taking place at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Herman's memory may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
