Herbert Wayne "Herb" Lawton, 88, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017. He was a long-time member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Central, Indiana. Herb loved to play his harmonica and to be outside fishing, gardening, and cutting grass.

Herb was born on March 1, 1929 in Bardstown, Kentucky, to the late Wilbur A. and Ethel (Crawford) Lawton. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth (Beard) Lawton; and his nine siblings.

Herb is survived by his wife, Sandra K. (Borden) Lawton; children, Steve Lawton (John), Karen Nothdurft (Paul), and Cheryl Lawton (LeAnn); stepchildren, Kelly Mullen (Peter) and Michael Mullen; siblings, Laura Kaufherr, and Charles and Dean Lawton; grandchildren, Adam Lawton Mustoe (Sarah) and Kelly Johnston (Doug); great-grandchildren, James and Meradith Johnston and Aaron and Betsy Mustoe; and great nephew (but like a grandson), Joseph DePue.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017 from 9 AM to 10:30 AM with a Memorial Service following at 10:30AM. Burial and military honors will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Floyds Knobs.
