Henry Lewis Meyers Sr.

Henry Lewis Meyers Sr., 90, of New Haven, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021.

Henry "Lewis" proudly served our country in the U.S Army during the Korean War and retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #181. Henry "Lewis" was a avid U of L fan, enjoyed reading, golfing and bowling. He will be remembered for many things to a lot of people, but most of all he will be remembered for the love and devotion he had to his wife, Betty and for being a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather.

He was born on August 28, 1930 in Bonny Blue, Virginia to the late Henry and Gertrude (Lowrey) Meyers. He is preceded in death by his son, Jacob Wilbur Meyers Sr., sons in-law, Henry Lee Padgett and Richard Lee Hammock, and his siblings, Lillian Avis Meyers, Jacob Roy Meyers, William Clay Meyers and Charles Queteen Meyers.

Henry is survived by his loving wife of 66 1/2 years Betty Jean Meyers, children, Jean Elizabeth Meyers, Norma Ruth Padgett, Teresa Ann Hammock, Henry Lewis (Dixie Mae) Meyers, Jr., Tilly Sue Meyers (daughter in-law) and Carolyn Avis (Steve Dillander) Meyers, grandchildren, Deborah Lynn (Casey) Walls, Charles Lee Padgett, Jacob Wilbur (Megan) Meyers, Jr., Aspen Eileen (Champ) Garrigues, Amber Dawn Traxler, Chad Michael Meyers, Zachariah Louis (Amanda) Traxler, Danielle Nicole (Tommy) Harris, Richard Lewis Hammock, Devona Nicole Meyers, Heather Christine Dillander, 27 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). His Funeral Service will be at 12:00 pm on Friday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, he will be laid to rest privately at Evergreen Cemetery.

The family requests that contributions in Henry's memory be made to Hillview Assembly of God Church or the Disabled American Veterans Association.
