October 20, 1942 — February 20, 2015
Helen Theresa (Hjelm) Taylor, 72, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2015. She was a proud veteran of The United States Marine Corps and after being honorably discharged, served as a recruiter for the Virginia National Guard. Helen and her twin brother, Eric, were the first set of fraternal twins to enlist with the Marines.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Eric Hjelm & Helen Marie (McGinley); and her brother & sister. She is survived by her husband, Richard Taylor Sr.; children, William Waterhouse (Dorothy), Theresa Piazza (Patrick), Cathy Wishart (Terry), Robert Taylor (Kristie), Richard Taylor Jr., Guy Taylor (Robin); twin brother, Eric Hjelm; and several grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
Her Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church (415 East 8th Street, New Albany, IN). Cremation was chosen following Helen's wishes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society (701 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd, Louisville, KY 40203).
