Helen Ruth (Rothrock) Sparks

Helen Ruth (Rothrock) Sparks, 85, of Clarksville, Indiana, peacefully passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018, at Traditions at Hunter Station in Sellersburg, Indiana. She was surrounded by her family who dearly loved and cherished her and by the supportive, compassionate staff who helped care for her.

She was born June 16, 1933, in Depauw, Indiana, to the late Earl and Lola Rothrock. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Howard L. Sparks, who was by her side for over 59 years; sister, Elva Harmon; and brothers, Melvin, Emery, and Sherman Rothrock.

Helen is survived by her children, Cheri Sparks and Kevin Sparks (Mindy); her grandchildren, Hannah and Ethan; and her brother John Henry Rothrock. Helen retired from the Federal Reserve Bank after 39 years of service. She loved IU basketball, seek & find puzzles, and traveling with her husband in retirement. Most of all she loved her grandchildren who were the light of her life.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane New Albany, Indiana) from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with her Funeral Service following at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel at the Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2018, at Thompson Chapel United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery in Depauw, Indiana.
