Helen Etrulia Moorhead, age 95, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 7, 2017. Helen attended grade school and high school in Detroit, MI. Her parents owned the DJ Healy Shops there and accommodated customers with fine feather boas, furniture and art. She attended St. Mary's College and met her husband at Notre Dame. After marriage, her husband William was employed by the Chevrolet Motor Division and they moved to Birmingham, Alabama, Evansville, Indiana and finally back to Anchorage, Kentucky where she settled to raise her family. She passed time at Owl Creek Country Club, Harmony Landing County Club, where she played golf and bridge. Helen loved to travel and spend her winters in Delray Beach, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Moorhead, Jr; her daughter, Mary Helen Moorhead Davenport; and her parents, Leonard and Helen Douglas Healy.
Mrs. Moorhead is survived by her loving sons, Christopher L. Moorhead (Susan R. Sexton) and William C. Moorhead, III (Melissa); grandchildren, Campbell Forshee, Amanda Davenport, Megan Davenport Hutzel, Tony Davenport, William E. Moorhead, Hillary Brown, Alexander Healy Moorhead and Jennifer Lyn Moorhead; son-in-law, Phil Davenport; close friends, Kurt and Betty Oliver, Dan and Jan Gunther; and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 4-6pm on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am Monday, September 18th at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 212 Mt. Mercy Drive, Pewee Valley, KY. 40056. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, which will be private.
