Helen Lamkin, 92, of Campbellsville, Kentucky, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. A devoted mother, sister, and Mawmaw, she was cherished by all who knew her. Helen's faith as a Catholic played a central role in her life, nurturing a strong bond with the Lord. Her talent in crafting beautiful quilts brought joy to many, and she enjoyed playing BINGO in her leisure time, alongside her passion for tending to her flower garden.
Born on July 8, 1932, in Sunfish, Kentucky, Helen was the daughter of the late Wallace and Alma (Duvall) Durbin. She is preceded in death by her beloved son, Joseph "Joey" Thomas, and her sisters, Evelyn McKenna and Pauline Hendren.
Helen is lovingly remembered by her family, including her children Sharon (Dan) Schmidt, Diane Cawthorn, Agnes (Gary) Hyberger, and Margie (Bill) Wells. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends who will hold her memory dear.
A memorial service honoring Helen’s life will take place on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Southeast Christian Church, Southwest Campus, located at 8301 Saint Andrews Church Road. At a later date, Helen will be laid to rest privately at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Sunfish, Kentucky. Helen will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
