Helen Bell Gies

Helen Bell Gies , 95, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021. Helen was a class representative for Sacred Heart High School Class of 1943. She then went on to her Bachelors Degree from Spaulding University. Helen was a retired school teacher at St. Simon & Jude Catholic Church after 20 years of teaching. She was devoted Wife, Mother, and Grandmother, and loved spending time with each of them. Helen enjoyed playing cards, reading, movies, and being with her family. Helen will be missed by all who knew her.

She was born on April 29, 1925 in Louisville, Kentucky to William J. and Viola (Eggers) Bell. She is preceded in death by her Parents, Sons, Thomas L. Gies, and Martin "Marty" Gies, Daughter and Son-In-Law, Barbara & John Peck, Son-In-Law, Pat Warner, Brothers, William M. Bell, and Tom Bell, Sisters, Carolyn Koestel, and Patricia Van Houten.

Helen is survived by her loving Husband of 76 years, Andrew P Gies, Jr., Son, Andrew P. (Lynn) Gies, III, Daughter, Carolyn A. (Luke) Donato, Daughter-In-Law, Becky Gies, Son, Carl A. (Kendra) Gies, Daughter, Suellen M. Warner, Daughter, Jayne (James) Woodring. Helen also leaves behind to cherish her memory a host of Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Great-Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Extended Family.

Visitation will be on Monday, April 26, 2021 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church (508 Breckenridge Lane) with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery- Louisville, KY.
