Helen (Gilbert) Bailey

Helen (Gilbert) Bailey, 79, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 24, 2021. She was a member of Galena Church of Christ and the Homemakers Society. Helen enjoyed flower gardening, painting, and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a kind, loving, and servant-hearted person who would do anything for someone in need.

She was born on June 2, 1942, in Hyden, Kentucky, to the late Rufus and Martha (Day) Gilbert. Along with her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Bailey; and siblings, Odis Gilbert and Zelda Mae (Gilbert) Lewis.

Helen is survived by her loving children, Pamela (David, Sr.) Popp and Regina (Dwayne) Calhoun; grandchildren, David (Sarah) Popp, Jr., Johnathan (Anna) Popp, Alex (Erin) Lausterer, Lillian Calhoun, and Lauren Hernandez; great-grandchild, Aida Lausterer; brother, Willie Ray (Geraldine) Gilbert; and nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 1, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany (3309 Ballard Lane). Her Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Palmyra Cemetery in Palmyra, Indiana.

The family requests that contributions in Helen's memory be made to the New Albany-Floyd County Animal Shelter or the Louisville Weimaraner Rescue.
