Helen Marie (Rice) Atkins

Helen Marie (Rice) Atkins, 66, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017. She enjoyed quilting and could be called a friend by many. Helen was able to touch hearts everywhere she went.

She was born on July 12, 1950, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Louis and Alma (Fenwick) Rice. Helen was also preceded in death by her brother, Larry Rice.

Helen is survived by her husband of 42 years, M. Dean Atkins; children, Paula Marler, Todd Bolton (Amber), and Michael Atkins (Renee); siblings, Connie Becht (Mickey), Frank Rice (Bev), Patricia Anderson (Pat), Fred Rice (Rita), Michael Rice, Darlene Sorrels, Wilson Rice (LeeAnn), and Steven Rice; grandchildren, Olivia, Christian, Grace, Trè, Kaydi, and Mattea; best friend, Janet White; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Wednesday after 9:00 a.m. Her Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday in the chapel at the funeral home with entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
