On Tuesday, June 29, 2021, God called Heinz Bussmann, loving husband, father and pawpaw home at the age of 68.
Heinz was born July 2, 1952 in Pfullingen Germany to Konrad and Ernestine Bussmann. Heinz traveled at the young age of 2 across the ocean with his parents to find a better life in America. Throughout his childhood, Heinz was devoted to helping his parents with the family business Bussmann's Bakery. Heinz attended Atherton High School and was a member of The National Guard. On July 27, 1974 Heinz married his High School Sweetheart and love of his life Donna Marie Gittings. They built a beautiful life together and had two children Erik Bussmann (Katelynn) and Cherie Bussmann (Matthew). Heinz was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather to his 6 grandchildren Ethan, Avery Grace, Kaylee, Madison, Ruby and Eli.
Heinz loved his family more than anything. He loved adventure and the outdoors, but most of all he loved his wife and providing the very best he could for her and his family. He loved being a Pawpaw. His lap was never empty and his hugs were abundant.
Heinz was preceded in death by his father Konrad, and his mother Ernestine. He is survived by his wife Donna, his children Erik and Cherie, his brother Alfred and sisters Mary and Sheryl, his niece and his grandchildren.
A visitation will be held to celebrate Heinz from 12:00 to 3:00 pm, Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Newcomer Funeral Home in Middletown. Flowers and donations may be sent to 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243.
