Harry "Big Gene" Sparks, III

Harry "Big Gene" Sparks, III, 46, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. Harry was a loving and devoted son, brother, uncle and friend. He had a passion for fishing and was a skilled football player earning a scholarship to Moorehead University after graduating from Male High School. Gene was a beloved friend to many and never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

He was born on October 18, 1979 in Louisville, Kentucky to Harry and Marcella (Jones) Sparks. He is preceded in death by his father, Harry Gene Sparks, Jr.; mother, Marcella Jean Sparks; sisters, Tonya Lynn Dunn, Dawn Michelle Dunn; and beloved dog, Gizmo.

Gene is survived by his loving family, brother, David Wayne (Sheila) Dunn, Jr.; sisters, Angela Sue (Dan) Crabtree, Leslie Ann (Mark) Sparks-Mattingly; nephew, Austin Hock; honorary daughter, Lexie Ferguson; as well as a host of many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.

Visitation will be on Sunday, June 7, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, East Louisville, 235 Juneau Drive. A memorial service honoring his life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
