Listen to Obituary

Harry Nelson Johnson, a beloved Pastor and devoted family man, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, in Sellersburg, Indiana, surrounded by the love of his life, Anna Johnson, his wife of 68 wonderful years. Born on September 6, 1934, in Hammonton, New Jersey, Harry dedicated his life to serving others, inspiring countless individuals through his ministry focused on community outreach and spreading the love of Christ.

Harry was a proud graduate of Hammonton High School, and it was there that his journey towards ministry began, ultimately leading him to Eastern Bible College where he dedicated his life to serving his community and church. For over twenty years, he devoted himself to uplifting others, sharing his faith, and living as a beacon of hope for those around him.

Outside his ministerial work, Harry was an avid woodworker and carpenter. With his hands, he shaped not only pieces of wood but also the lives of those who cherished his craftsmanship. His love for woodworking was matched only by his passion for fishing and hunting, which he enjoyed as means to gather with family and friends in nature.

Harry's legacy is one of loyalty and devotion. He was a loving husband, an encouraging father to his daughter MaryLynn Davidson, and a compassionate grandfather to his grandchildren: Erik Johnson, Dawn (Ben) Browne, Kimberly (Joshua) Hart, Justin (Alyssa) Davidson, and Kelli (Kendrick) Dale. His pride extended even further to his cherished great-grandchildren: Ashley Townsend, Kaylee Williams, Joshua Williams, Aivah Hart, Kayden Dale, Carson Hart, Tyler Browne, Remi Hart, McKenzie Browne, Maddie Browne, and Khloe Dale. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he took great joy in watching his family grow.

Harry is also survived by his sister, Bessie (Warren) Doty, along with many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom will forever remember him for his kind spirit and unwavering support.

Though Harry has joined his beloved family members who have departed before him — his parents, Bessie R. Johnson and John R. Johnson; his son, Russell Johnson; and his siblings, Laverda Snyder, John Johnson, Roberta DeNote, Pete Johnson, and Jimmy Johnson — he leaves behind a legacy filled with love, teachings, and memories that will continue to inspire generations to come.

A visitation will be held in his honor on November 8, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, both at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, in New Albany.

Harry Nelson Johnson’s life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and family. He will be profoundly missed, yet his spirit will live on in the hearts of all those who were blessed to know him.
