Harold W. Klapel, a devoted family man and cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026, in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Born on November 18, 1941, in Edgar, Wisconsin, Harold lived a full and meaningful life that was marked by his dedication to both his work and his loved ones.

Harold proudly made his mark as a truck driver, lending his skills and steadfast commitment to USF Holland and Manheim Auto Auction. His passion for the open road and diligent work ethic were defining facets of his character. Beyond his professional life, Harold found joy and fulfillment in tending to his yard, where he embraced the simple pleasures of outdoor labor, steady hands-on work, Sunday football, and loved the Green Bay Packers.

On April 23, 1997, Harold married Carrollean, the love of his life, embarking on a journey that would bring them 27 years of companionship, support, and profound mutual respect. Together, they built a vibrant family life enriched by shared values and enduring love.

Harold was a proud and committed member of Grace Lutheran Church in New Albany, Indiana, where he found spiritual nourishment and fellowship. His faith was a cornerstone throughout his life and remained a source of strength until his passing.

The greatest pride and joy in Harold’s life was the time he spent with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. Their happiness and milestones were treasured deeply by him, embodying his enduring legacy.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Carrollean Klapel; his daughter, Kara Theusch, and her husband, Jeff; his son, Brian Klapel; and his stepdaughters, Nikki Allen, Jackie Holland, and Melissa Ethington. He was also a loving grandfather to Michelle, Andy, Myah, Diondre Cooper, Avery, Zach, and Houston, and a great-grandfather to Colton, Marissa, Jaxson, Oscar, and Mason. Harold’s sister, Audrey Ludkey, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, also survive him, all of whom cherished his presence in their lives.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marie Klapel; his brother, Kenny Klapel; and his sister, Betty Schmidt.

Family, friends, and all who knew Harold are invited to honor his memory with a visitation at Grace Lutheran Church, located at 1787 Klerner Lane, New Albany, Indiana, on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. A celebration of life will follow immediately at 2:00 p.m.. This time will serve as an opportunity to reflect on the impactful life Harold led and to find comfort in community and shared remembrance.

Harold W. Klapel’s life was a testament to dedication, love, and the quiet strength found in faithful service to both family and faith. His memory will continue to inspire those who had the honor of knowing him.
