Hannah dela Cuesta, née Robson, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on April 28, 1966, in Richmond, Virginia.
Hannah will be remembered as an incredibly creative, funny, smart, and driven woman whose warmth reached far beyond her immediate circle. She was a fighter, devoted to the people she loved, and remarkably personable, welcoming, and inclusive to everyone she met. Her kindness was evident in everyday acts of care, including keeping food or water in the car for anyone on the street who might be in need. She lived with an open heart and a generous spirit that left a lasting impression on many.
Her creativity was woven throughout her life. Hannah was an amazing painter who found joy in beauty, imagination, and transformation. She loved going estate sale shopping and had a special gift for turning vintage items into statues and topiaries. She also enjoyed theater, embracing the art, expression, and inspiration it brought. Among the memories cherished by those who knew her is the story of finding her husband on E-Harmony, a moment that led to a loving partnership and a shared life together.
One of Hannah’s proudest accomplishments was her 20-year marriage to her husband, Victor. Together, they opened their hearts and home in an extraordinary way, fostering children for 16 years and caring for more than 40 children of all ages. This commitment reflected Hannah’s compassion, resilience, and deep belief in making room for others. The care she gave and the lives she touched through that work stand as a profound part of her legacy.
She is survived by her husband, Victor Dela Cuesta; her sons, Dylan Mikels and William Mikels; and her daughters, Ileana Munoz and Emily Pilato and her husband, Joe. She is also lovingly remembered by niece Annie Copass and her husband, Blake, nephew Jackson Marion, and by her great-nephews, Jensen Copass and Holden Copass. She is further survived by her foster brother, Kent Thompson. Hannah’s family circle was one of connection, love, and belonging, and those who shared in it will carry her memory forward with deep affection.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rodman Robson, and her mother, Beverly Robson.
Hannah’s life was marked by creativity, humor, generosity, and a remarkable capacity to welcome others in. She leaves behind a legacy of love, care, and compassion that will continue to live on in the family she cherished and in the many lives she helped shape.
A celebration of life for Hannah will be held at a later date.
