Hae Suk Burke, 82, passed peacefully on Friday, December 3, 2021, Hae Suk was born October 15, 1939, in Korea.
Hae Suk "Genie" married the love of her life while still living in Korea, Joseph "Sonny" Charles Burke. They later moved to the U.S. being stationed in Germany, San Diego, and finally settling in Louisville, KY to raise their family. They had been married 56 years, although her husband preceded her in death.
To this union was born her loving children, son Darryl K. Burke, daughter, Monica M. Burke; Granddaughters, Alissa Burke-Bowman, Ashley Johnson and Gabrielle Burke. All who provided comfort, love and support as caregivers during her time of need. Tom and Linda O'Bannon, Rev. Ben and Eugenia Trowell and Louis O'Bannon, have been lifelong friends, who are considered family.
Hae Suk accepted Christ during her adult life. She was full of life and loved her family and she showed it constantly. She supported her children and granddaughters in all that they did in life and was very proud of their accomplishments. Hae Suk enjoyed sharing her cooking of traditional Korean meals for her family and friends. Her children and granddaughters will carry on this tradition.
She was a very caring, compassionate, and giving woman who loved her family deeply. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, and going to bingo and the casino occasionally. She loved gardening and you could always find her working in her yard.
Hae Suk leaves her loving family and friends to cherish her memory and keep her cultural traditions alive within the family.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). Her life celebration will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, at the funeral home.
Interment – Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, Mt. Washington, KY
Repass- Valley Hope Center – 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm
