It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gwendolyn Lucille Steinbach, a cherished member of the Louisville community, who left us on April 28, 2025. Born on March 5, 1942, in Louisville, KY, Gwendolyn was a testament to kindness and creativity, shining brightly in the lives of those who knew her.
Gwendolyn dedicated over 25 years of her life to a fulfilling career as a Client Technical Analyst Manager in the financial department at ADP. Her diligence and expertise not only contributed to the success of her team but also earned her lasting respect and admiration within the industry.
Education was important to Gwendolyn, who attended and graduated from Eastern High School before going on to earn her Associate's degree from Kentucky Wesleyan University. Her thirst for knowledge was matched only by her nurturing spirit, as she tended to the growth of her family with love and unwavering support.
A free-spirited soul, Gwendolyn had a passion for canvas art and painting, and she found joy in crafting beautiful creations that expressed her vibrant personality. Her hobbies reflected her generous nature, as she often engaged in these creative pursuits while surrounded by her family.
Above all her accomplishments, Gwendolyn took the greatest pride in watching her family flourish. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and affectionate sister, who cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. The legacy of her boundless love lives on through her surviving family members: her daughters Bonnie Jo (James) Sonderegger and Elizabeth Gail (Marty) Elder, her son Robert Connie (Elaine) Steinbach, her sister Gail Haynes, and her adoring grandchildren — Tim, Josi, Mitchell, Gabby, Riley, Cat, William, and Eliza.
Gwendolyn was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph Anthony Steinbach, Jr., and her son Scott Anthony Steinbach. She also grieves the loss of her father, Connie L. Haynes, and her mother, Bonnie Haynes. Each of these relationships shaped Gwendolyn into the remarkable woman she was, demonstrating to her family the importance of compassion and loyalty.
Family and friends are invited to join us in honoring Gwendolyn's life at a Memorial Gathering and Celebration of Life on May 7, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Dr, Louisville, KY 40243.
