Guy Welker Smith, 70, of Borden, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021. Guy was a skilled equipment operator and would do anything for "almost" anybody. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and proudly served during the Vietnam War. He lived life to the fullest and made the most of each day given to him.
He was born on June 20, 1950, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Cleo and Elizabeth (Casey) Smith. Along with his parents, Guy is preceded in death by his siblings, Carl Smith, Jim Smith, Steve Smith, Juanita Kearney, and Denny Smith.
Guy is survived by his sons, Donnie (Brandi) Smith and Bill (Susan) Smith; 3 grandchildren; siblings, Gerald (Sue) Smith, Jeanette Williams, Rosie (Fred) Boyd, Tommy Smith, and Mickey (Barbara) Smith.
Cremation was chose in regards to Guy's wishes. A Memorial Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany. He will be laid to rest with full military honors at a later date in the New Albany National Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Lisa, Mac, and Gunner for all their love, help, and support for Guy.
The family requests that contributions in Guy's memory be made to the J.B. Ogle Animal Shelter or the American Legion post in Sellersburg, Indiana.
