Grover Crittenden Nichols, born on August 1, 1944, left us peacefully on February 4, 2026. He was a man of many talents and a kind heart, known for his unwavering work ethic and his willingness to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. Grover possessed a remarkable skill set that spanned mechanical and electrical repairs, along with home maintenance, making him capable of fixing almost anything that came his way.
Grover was not only a skilled tradesman but also a vibrant personality. Those who knew him were often greeted with his cheerful jokes and playful banter. His independent spirit and firm opinions were well-known, but it was his caring nature that truly defined him, as he consistently looked out for those less fortunate.
In his leisure time, Grover found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed playing Bingo and loved to sit on the porch, soaking up the world around him. An avid follower of current events, Grover never missed an opportunity to stay informed about the world outside. He held a special fondness for classic westerns, with "Gun Smoke" being his favorite, often sparking nostalgia and joy in his evenings.
Among his proudest accomplishments, Grover cherished marrying his best friend, Nadine, and the family they built together. He took immense pride in watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and flourish, reveling in the legacy of love and strength he helped create.
Grover Crittenden Nichols will be remembered not just for his skills and proclivity for humor, but also for his generous spirit and dedication to family. His presence will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rachel Wilson; stepson, Kevin Shoopman; parents, Logan and Eula Nichols; brother, Roger Nichols and sister, Susie Keith and his four legged, best friend, Rocky.
Grover leaves behind to cherish his memories, the love of his life for 61 years, Nadine Nichols; children, Vicki (Robert) Wagner, Mark Nichols, Barbara (Jason) Nichols, Chris Nichols, Jonathan (Caitlin) Nichols and Grover (Kayla) Nichols, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Tracy Shoopman; 21 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; brother, Frank (Pam) Nichols and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A private celebration of Grover's life will be at a later date.
