Gregory Scott Johnson, 60, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on November 5, 1964, Greg spent much of his life in various parts of Texas before settling in Louisville. He attended the University of Louisville and Sullivan University, where he earned his degree in accounting-laying the foundation for a successful career. Greg went on to spend more than 25 years as a dedicated financial analyst with UPS Supply Chain Solutions, where his strong work ethic and quiet determination left a lasting impression on his colleagues.
Greg’s life was one of simple pleasures and unwavering love for his family. He was an avid landscaper, a passion he shared with his wife, and found joy in every project they tackled together. His favorite pastime, though, was supporting his children in all they did-whether acting as the road crew for his son’s band or spending countless hours supporting his daughter’s softball career.
A lifelong sports fan, Greg proudly rooted for the University of Louisville Cardinals and the Houston Astros, rarely missing a game and always believing next season would be the one.
Greg was deeply inspired by motivational speeches-none more than Jim Valvano’s 1993 ESPY speech. After being diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in November 2024, he truly lived by Valvano’s words: “Don’t give up, don’t ever give up.” Greg faced his illness with courage, grit, and humor, fighting until the very end.
Greg is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Debbie (Frazier) Johnson; his children, Drew and Mandy; and his best friend, Healey. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Beverly (Tassin) Johnson, and his father-in-law, Lauren Frazier.
Greg will be remembered for his loyalty, quiet strength, and endless devotion to those he loved. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his loved ones, who will carry his spirit-and his favorite quote-forever: Don’t give up, don’t ever give up.
Per Greg's wishes cremation was chosen and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions in Greg's memory be made to The V Foundation for Cancer Research.
