Gregory S. “Bubba” Drew, born on January 11, 1960, in Shelbyville, passed away on July 2, 2026. His 66 years were marked by deep family devotion, a rich sense of humor, and a gracious spirit that brought light and laughter to all who knew him.
Gregory was a proud graduate of Shelby County High, Class of 1978. Throughout his life, he maintained an unwavering connection to his roots and community, values which shaped his character and forged enduring friendships. He dedicated much of his professional life as a bus driver and maintenance worker for Sudan ISD, where his reliability and friendly presence became cherished staples within the district. Colleagues and students alike appreciated his warmth and his uncanny ability to share a good story or lighten a day with a well-timed joke.
Known affectionately by family and friends as “Bubba,” Gregory’s personality radiated joy and kindness. He always had a tale to tell, a joke ready to break the ice, and a welcoming smile for everyone he met. A true lover of nature, he took immense pride in his flowers, nurturing each bloom with the same gentle patience and care he gave to his loved ones. Motorcycles were another of Gregory’s joys, and he found freedom and happiness in every ride on the open road.
Above all else, Gregory cherished his role within the family. He considered being a daddy and a granddaddy as his proudest accomplishments. His legacy lives on through his beloved children: sons Kyle Drew and Josh Drew, and daughters Tabitha Stocks and Timmy Stocks. He also leaves behind a loving and supportive circle of siblings: Rocky Drew, Timmy Drew, and Trina Bentley. Gregory’s grandchildren—Jordyn, Rayven, Jazmine, and Harmony—were his pride and joy, each bringing him immeasurable happiness and endless laughter.
Gregory was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Raymond and Wilma Drew, whose memories remained close to his heart.
In the wake of his passing, Gregory is remembered by all who knew him as a storyteller, a jokester, a passionate gardener, a motorcycle enthusiast, and—most of all—a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His life’s impact will be felt through the stories he shared, the laughter he spread, and the family who carries his memory forward.
