Gracie Ellen Harper

Gracie Ellen Harper, age 83, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026. A devoted pastor's wife for over 50 years, Gracie exemplified love and compassion throughout her life. She possessed a soft-spoken demeanor and a wonderful sense of humor, bringing joy to those around her. Gracie cherished her family deeply and had a passion for cowboy shows, church, and gospel music. Her favorite color was red, a reflection of her vibrant spirit. As she departed from this world, Gracie was ready to reunite with her husband, mother, and oldest daughter in eternal peace.

Born on August 6, 1942, in Centertown, Kentucky, Gracie was the daughter of Tommy and Katie (Curtis) Hopper. She was preceded in death by her father, Tommy Hopper; her mother, Katie Imogene Snodgrass; her husband, Maxie Earl Harper; her daughter, Marcie Harper; and her granddaughter, Kayla Brooks.

Gracie leaves behind a loving family, including her children: Chris (Janet) Harper, Melissa Harper-Brooks, and Bradley (Beverly) Harper. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Emily (Adam) Massey, Amber (Chris) Stone, Ryan (Jill) Harper, Andrea (Austin) Wild, Kaylee Brooks, and Maxwell Harper. Gracie was proud to be a great-grandmother to Jaden Wild, Dylan Massey, Lily Wild, Tessa Stone, Reece Massey, and Penelope Harper. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by her sister, Brenda (Gary) Board, her nephew, Brian Board, and a host of family and friends who will cherish her memory forever.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at the same location. Gracie will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery #2, located at 3309-3613 Nobob Rd., Summer Shade, Kentucky, on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 1:00 PM CST.
