Gordon Joseph Bart, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at his home. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 24, 1938 to the late Joseph and Marcella (Nickels) Bartosiewicz.
Gordon graduated from Tuley High School in Chicago, and received his metallurigical engineering degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He also received his Master in Business Administration from Murray State University. He worked in the steel industry and in the gas transmission industry for over 30 years. He is a member of the American Society of Metals. Gordon was an avid bridge player and on many days he could be found at the Louisville Bridge Club. He was an devoted Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. Indy car racing was another passion and he attended the Indianapolis 500 several times. He was a dedicated family man who loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Ruth Bart; children, Carol Gorley (Joseph) and Nicole Bradshaw (Bentley); grandchildren, Anna Mattingly-Barker, Kelley Barker, Gwyn Gorley and Ian Gorley; a brother, Richard Bartosiewicz; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be 4-8pm Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown. A Mass of Celebration will be held at 10am Wednesday, October 18th at the Church of the Epiphany, 914 Old Harrods Creek Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40223.
