Gloria Jean Dhawan, born on August 13, 1958, in Louisville, Kentucky, peacefully departed this life on January 25, 2026, in her beloved hometown. Gloria was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth and kindness will be profoundly missed by many.
Throughout her life, Gloria’s heart was a beacon of love and joy. She dedicated herself fully to her family, pouring her spirit into nurturing each member. Her daughter, DiAngela Harris, carried forward her legacy of unwavering love and support. Gloria's role as a grandmother brought her immense joy, as she cherished the moments spent with her granddaughter, Shakeyla LeVaughn, and grandson, Jawain Williams Jr. The light in her eyes shone even brighter with the arrival of her great-grandsons, A'Milleon Williams and Ja'Vontae Williams, who adored her deeply.
In addition to her immediate family, Gloria, leaves behind her beloved sisters: Elder Phyllis (Edward) Johnson, Tammy Crenshaw, Roni Nash, Terri Jean (Larry) Brown, and Marilyn Watkins, as well as her brother, Garry Crenshaw. The family gatherings were graced by laughter, stories, and an abundance of love, illustrating their unbreakable bonds.
Gloria will also be remembered fondly by a host of nieces, nephews, godsons, step-daughters, and friends, who have all been touched by her gentle spirit and infectious smile. She was a true matriarch, whose presence created a sense of belonging within her extended family.
While Gloria’s passing leaves a profound void, her spirit continues to inspire those who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Emily Alberta Brown Crenshaw; father, John Burgess; blessed father, Benjamin Mathis Jr.; brother, Phillip Crenshaw; and sister, Linda Mathis. Each one of these precious family members carried a piece of her heart with them, and now they are reunited in eternal peace.
Visitation for Gloria Jean Dhawan will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, on February 8, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Friends and family are welcome to come together to honor her cherished memory during this time of remembrance and continue honoring Gloria at the repass following the service at Perk It Up 2816 Crums Lane, Louisville, KY 40216.
Gloria's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and countless memories, and she will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. As we grieve her loss, let us also celebrate the incredible legacy she leaves behind and the beauty of the many lives she enriched.
