Glenn Elwood Capito

February 23, 1947 — May 30, 2018

Glenn Ellwood Capito passed away peacefully from natural causes at his home in Pendleton, Kentucky on May 29, 2018. He was born on February 23, 1947 in Louisville, Kentucky to Luther Edward Capito and Verna Norris Bradley Capito. His early years were spent growing up in Eastwood, Kentucky on the farm of his grandparents, Noah Daniel and Nora Rutledge Capito.

In the late 1950's, Glenn and his family moved to Fern Creek, Kentucky where the family built their home on land adjacent to his grandparent's, Thomas Jefferson and Jeneda Nichols Bradley farm. Glenn learned so much from both sides of his family. In 2016, Glenn was interviewed by writer Bob Hill on his life growing up on the farm on Floyds Fork which is now part of the Parklands.

Glenn served his country during the early 1960's in Korea. After his honorable discharge, he came home and married Barbara Lee Sewell. With Barbara, he had four children, Michelle Renee', Anthony Neil, Jennifer Lee, and Christopher Scott. He began working at Ready Mix Concrete Company and became an expert in concrete mixing and mechanics. He had several other positions throughout his career in Louisville. Many people knew there really was nothing that Glenn couldn't do.

In the 1980's, Glenn moved to South Florida with his partner and later wife Carol Satterly Hockenberry where he began his career as a businessman with a new form of slow hardening concrete mix. After living in Delray Beach, Glenn moved to Oak Hill, Florida where he became a farmer. In the late 1990s, Glenn and Carol returned to Carol's home in Pendleton, Kentucky to live out their remaining years in the tranquility of the Kentucky farm and woods near the Ohio River.

Glenn became Carol's caretaker in 2017, when Carol lost her battle with cancer. Glenn and Carol were believers in Christ as the Savior and felt they would be together again. Glenn suffered from debilitating issues which contributed to ending his life on this earth.

Glenn was predeceased by his parents, Luther and Verna, and his wife Carol.

He is survived by his children, Michelle (Missie), Anthony (Tony), Jennifer (Jennie), and Christopher (Scotty), his brother Timothy Capito, his sister Valerie Capito-Mundy, ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren in addition to several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday June 9th 11:00A.M. at the Christ Open Door Fellowship Church 181 Brownsboro Road, Pendleton, KY 40055 with Pastor Linda Morgan officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Open Door Fellowship.
