Glenda Marie (Edwards) Simmons

Glenda Marie (Edwards) Simmons, aged 82, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026. She was proud of her Texas roots, having been born on April 19, 1943 in Lubbock County to Ernest and Vennie (Condron) Edwards.

Glenda had a profound appreciation for the beauty of nature and was an avid bird watcher. Her love for the outdoors was mirrored by her passion for music, as she was a talented pianist. Glenda was widely recognized as a prayer warrior, known not only for her devotion but also for the bright smile that consistently graced her face—a smile that was paired perfectly with her biting wit, infectious laughter and love for dancing.

In addition to her parents, Glenda was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Simmons, and her brother, Michael Edwards. She is survived by her children: Jolinda Nick (Jarrod Worlie); Jennifer Schulten; and Nathan Simmons; her grandsons: Austin Paugh, J. Smith Schulten, and A. Bryce Schulten; sister-in-law, Kay Edwards; son-in-law, Matt Schulten; step-children, Tanya Stuart, Bruce Simmons and their families whom she was very fond of; as well as many extended family members.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to the exceptional staff at Vivera Senior Living of Jeffersonville . Over the past three years, the team on the Extended Care Wing provided outstanding care, attention, and devotion to Ms. Glenda. They truly loved her as their own.

Glenda's wishes were to be cremated, and Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions has been entrusted with her care. The family requests contributions in her memory be made to The Nature Conservancy or to LifeSpan Resources, Inc.
