Glen Cecil Thompson, a devoted family man and respected business owner, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on January 4, 1950, in Bardstown, Kentucky, Glen spent much of his life in New Albany, Indiana, where he made a lasting impact through his work and his love for the outdoors.
Glen was the proud owner of G&T Thompson's Trucking, a business he took great pride in. His career was a significant part of his life, reflecting his strong work ethic and commitment. Yet, beyond the demands of business, Glen cherished the time he spent outdoors, finding joy in hunting, camping and off-road riding. His restless spirit kept him perpetually active—he was a man who found it hard to be still, always engaged in one activity or another.
Above all else, Glen's greatest love was his family. He is survived by his wife, Tawanna (Purtlebaugh) Thompson, who stood by his side throughout their life together. He is also survived by his daughters: Shela Lamb and her husband Edward, Tonya Stephens and her husband Christopher, Charmaine Moore, Brooklyn Lindenmeyer and her husband Takoda, and Nakia Chapman and her husband Cory. Glen was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to honor Glen’s memory during a visitation on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, located at 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany. Following the visitation, a celebration of Glen’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m.
Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
