Glace Albert Riegel, age 84 of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2019. Glace was born in Hummels Warf, Pennsylvania to the late Samuel and Virgie Riegel, the youngest of 7 siblings, on February 16, 1935. He graduated from Selingsgrove High School, received an Accounting Degree from Susquehanna University and a Masters in Divinity from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. He served as pastor to 3 churches in New Paris, Gettysburg and Harrison Ohio. He was an IRS agent in Cincinnati Ohio and Louisville Ky where he retired. He was a proud Veteran and served in the Marines at Cherry Point, North Carolina at the end of the Korean War. Glace is preceded in death by his parent, Samuel and Virgie Riegel; sisters, Olive and Lois; and brothers, Park and Stoy.
Glace is survived by his wife, Carol Hockley Riegel; daughter, Debbie Briggs; son, Darcy Riegel (Donna); step-daughter, Randy Reyna; sisters, Betty McFall and Gladys Smith; grandchildren, Ginger Dwyer (Kevin), Maxwell Briggs (Andrea), April Lockler ( Bill), Austin Briggs (Jhannet), Harrison Briggs (Toria); step-grandchildren, Tricia Langley (Allen) and Chris Isaac (Erica); great- grandchildren, Hadrian Dwyer, Kayden Langley, Leah Langley, Laila Briggs, Lucious Dwyer, Ceasar Briggs, Helena Dwyer, Logan Briggs, Bailey Briggs and Leia Briggs. He is also survived by his cats, dogs and birds that he loved dearly.
Glace loved horse racing and his trips to Churchill Downs and Keeneland were some of his most memorable experiences. Glace inspired all who knew him with his quick wit and sense of humor and taught his family by example, to love each other and treat everyone with dignity and respect.
Celebration of Life services will be 1 to 4 pm Saturday, May 11, 2019 at VFW1170 Post, 107 Evergreen Road, Louisville, KY.
