Gertha Marie (Harp) Paris, 83, of New Albany, Indiana passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, September 30, 2015. Marie retired from General Electric after over 30 years of service. She was active in women's ministry and was a long time member of Graceland Baptist Church in New Albany.
Marie was born on March 31, 1932 in Gatliff, Kentucky to the late Thomas Everett Harp, Sr. & Ida Mae (Walters) Elam. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Franklin Paris; brother, Robert Harp; and sister, Dorthy Phillips.
Marie is survived by her children, Deborah Harp, Robert Paris, Karen Shepherd (Johnny), and Sharon Livers (Charles); brothers, Charles Harp (Cora), Norman Harp (Deena), Thomas Harp (Kathy); sister, Beverley Torkelson (Merland); 9 grandchildren, & 6 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 12 to 6 PM on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN). Her Funeral Service will take place at 11 AM on Monday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Abundant Life Memorial Gardens.
