Gerlen Heaverin

Gerlen "Jean" (LeGrand) Heaverin, 89, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on March 4, 2016 . She was born on October 4, 1926, in Welches Creek, Kentucky to Odell and Anna Gray (Embry) LeGrand. Jean retired from Phillip Morris Company after 34 years. She was a faithful Christian and attended church at Charlestown Road Church of Christ in New Albany. Jean enjoyed gardening, and spending time with her family.

Along with her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Isadore "Red" Heaverin Jr., her daughter, Barbara Gail Terry, granddaughter, Amie Powell. She is survived by her loving children; Joseph Tim Heaverin (Gail), Mary Ann Powell, Carolyn Frazier, 8 grandchildren; Joseph Terry, Steve DeSpain, Stacey DeArk, Julie Terry, Kim Powell, Bridgett Yochum, Samantha Hall, Angela Jacobi, 15 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great- grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, from 3-8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150). Her service will be on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 12PM with burial to follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
